Do Video Games Rot Your Brain? Video Game Designers VS. Parents, These two factions have been at war since the rise of video game popularity in the 1970 s. Video Games are something seen in just about every household in America today, there are just as common as a fridge or toaster. They are something that every person can enjoy whether they are a boy, girl, kid or adult. Naturally, when something is this popular there are going to be some people who have a problem with it. The Parents launched their first attack in 1976. They got multiple games pulled from shelves including Death Race, Custer s Revenge. This was the first of many attacks in a still on-going war. While parents and the video game designers had some light skirmishes through the 80 s nothing major really happened. However, In the 90 s due to the still rising popularity of video games combined with an increase in the quality of graphics, led to the first lawsuit. According to the NCAC (National Coalition Against Censorship) Anti-video games activist and attorney Jack Thompson files the first of what are to be a large number of lawsuits claiming video games are responsible for violence perpetrated by teens. These lawsuits were filed even though they had zero evidence to back their claim that video games cause violence in teens, But that is the way it is even to this day.
